Free Spirit

I am currently reading this with our boy(s):

In my mind, Pippi is a true free spirit & awesomely strong!! This story is providing us giggles, (a throw back for this Mama) and the best part is, I think he is truly enjoying it. It should really be a proper little lit study, and I should prep him with some of the vocab (he is only in the 1st grade), but it is so fun to enjoy it with him, and I hope to instill continued love for a good story - and the hope that he will find a strong, spunky woman some day!

Today's Title: Today's post is Really Dated Jan 26, 2010

Further to my previous post about being present and in the moment.... that is why I am blogging about this event nearly 5 days after it happened. Nonetheless, Cameron finally lost his 1st tooth!! He has been waiting and waiting and wiggling imaginary loose teeth for months now. And it seems all his mates have lost atleast 3 by now!

The most surprising thing about the whole event was that he didn't swallow the tooth considering he rolled into our room at 12:30 am on Monday night (well Tuesday, really) exclaiming that it had come out. I was also glad that ages ago I had bought him a cute little container for when the big event would occur, as I couldn't come up with the ideal "tooth holding" mechanism in my half asleep state. He knew right where that little container was and Baby Tooth Number 1 had a sweet safe resting spot for the night. Until the tooth fairy was beckoned the next night. The morning after her arrival, the little gap smile looked and said, "I knew I'd get a dollar."

My big boy, so handsome. And now just wicked cute with that first little gap. Too bad his neurotic mother is already stressed thinking that the tooth coming in seems all crooked and crazy (sigh).

But since this is our first tooth losing experience as parents, I feel compelled to ask - what to do with the tooth now? Am I supposed to keep it? Keep the first one? They go in the garbage right? I guess between the 2 of them and 26 baby teeth (if that is the right number), I'll have it sorted out sometime soon - without the help of "The Rock", thank you very much!

Trying Again...

Inspired again and again by other Mommy Bloggers, this Mama is going to give it another go. Why? For CE & OL that's why. I'm rubbish at making / keeping up any kind of a baby album, so maybe this will tell a little of their story. If not for them, then for me.

I think this crazy need for control and high expectations keep me from enjoying more. I am vowing to be a better mama & better Mrs. I don't want the fact that I want to blog (and do 10,000) more things will take away from the desire and need to be more present. Wish me Good Luck!!

Off with a hiss and a roar!

Both boys started school on Tuesday. It was a bit nerve wracking; you never know with Camo. He can fall apart when I say that I am leaving the house for a few hours on some errands. I guess though now that his 3rd grade friend lives across the street, all those nerves were a non-issue. He was over the moon to walk to bus stop with his mates. We are excited for 1st grade. Hoping that Ms. Bridge and Cameron will make a good team this year.

Oli, too, did amazing. I will say that I am OVER THE MOON that Oliver will be attending Marylhurst Preschool this place is amazing! I love the philosophy and the feeling you get when you walk into that school. I knew when I toured it, that it was what we wanted for Oliver. And today, I met the director Sheila, who, by the time I left, felt like was my new best friend.
As for the little Raccoon, well he was stellar. That mix of excitement and unfamiliarity tempered with confidence and a sense of adventure was priceless to get to witness. It is quite possible that we do underestimate him sometimes. Such a big boy now!

This Mama was happy because I got to share another German tradition with the boys. The tradition of Schultüten was shared with much excitement this morning! Although the tradition is generally saved for 1st grade, lil nipsy started today too, so Mama helped me put one together for him too. It was great to hear our own OPB feature a story on Schultüten! Love GSP, wish I could send the boys there.

And here some pictures that reflect the jubilation of the day:

Soccer Practice

Oli ~ you were a challenge today nipsy, and although I wasn't in a jovial mood at the time, I now (now that you are sound asleep in bed) can laugh at your antics. Here is you at CE's soccer practice today....... funny boy! At some point I will have to begin teaching you when this is and is not "appropriated" (your term for it). :)

Max & Ruby

Both of my boys are enthralled with this show currently. And I approve. I think it cute, and sweet. I just wish that Nick Jr would not show ads during these shows!!

Anyhow, I can't help but wonder if I had had a girl first is that how it would be? She would take care of EVERYTHING, and the parents would be totally obsolete? Just curious......

Taking a Compliment...

I was complimented on how cute my boys are the other day. Here is how Oliver responded....

We will work on his graciousness
